Growing Vegetables in Lincolnshire

Growing Your Own Organic Veg in a Lincolnshire Garden !
Guess what culture seekers ? I know why you visit this site you see, well you’ll not be disappointed (well you probably will ) culture it is and in the form of . . . what for it . . . The Kitchen Garden .
Not again I hear you cry - yes again.

Now given that you’re looking for culture, aren’t we all, you’ll be pleased to hear that not only does culture grow in the Goldeneye Bathroom but also the Goldeneye Garden :)

Things are starting to happen already and we’ve hardly begun to get plenty - there’s plenty of work still left for my dibber :)
I’ve been on my hands and knees again - no not begging girls for a dates - but with camera and macro lens (thanks as always to LB for the whole photographic set up - what a gift !)
I’m really pleased with the pics - hope you’re on 8meg and not dial up though - sorry if you are - they’re bigger than normal

Shallots Sprouting

Shallots Just Beginning to Show

These are nestling in the frontal aspect of the Goldeneye Ancestral Grounds (for our American visitors read: front yard :) ) - yes the expansion into the front garden is going well despite the efforts of the local feline population

Broad Beans

Broad Beans Just Breaking Surface

These broad beans are a surprise as they are already showing and I only planted the a couple of weeks ago - it bodes well providing I can avoid pest decimation

Purple Sprouting Broccoli

Purple Sprouting Broccoli

The purple sprouting broccoli is a relic from last year, unlike me who is a relic from the past century, I’m hoping they may provide a sacrificial plant to the dreaded white butterfly and the dreaded caterpillars

To mark this achievement and a thoroughly enjoyable and satisfying weekend I aim to celebrate with a bottle of wine this evening
The first drink in 7 days mind you !
Yours Sproutingly
Rod

Rod, I know you’re no stranger to controversy, fearless when it comes to reporting shocking news but……vegetables in the front garden!!! This is a phenomena I’ve encountered before in Lincolnshire but it’s usually a well kept secret, is it really wise to tell the world about it now? Never mind about cats, its a wonder you don’t have a mob of Wybers Woods vigilantees with flaming torches outside. What if the idea spread beyond the county boundries, where will it all end?

    Dino,
It is radical behaviour, you’re quite right, especially on Le Spa de Wybers, but I’m nothing if not bold !
I believe my status as a Freeman of the Borough grants me such rights but should mob rule question this then I’m ready for them - it won’t be the first time they’ve tried to burn me out :)

    Cheers

    Rod,

That third shot is just perfect both in colour and composition, many a greeting card could be designed around it. Apart from that, let us hope it does the job of luring bugs away from the main event. Are you going for squashes this year? We will weep if we don’t get a pumpkin of sorts sprouting forth from the coven plot…. we’ll be considering the phases of the moon before the solemn process begins again.

We’ve spotted a lone leek from last year… only we can’t remember whether it was an ornamental allium or not? If any flaming vigilantes show up, perhaps you could send them round to the coven for vegetable confirmation? :)

thanks for that, I too have leeks from last year, they’re still OK to eat but not as flavoursome as usual.

    Jordan,
I shall keep the updates coming, pleased they are of interest, minor I know but something nice in an increasingly miserable world.
