Grimsby Local Historian
Well I’ve finally found that elusive new vocation I’ve been looking for
I’m going to be Local Historian !
Our regular readers will know I’ve been in search for a new career - the semi-retired life is wearing thin !
We’ll, I’ve come up with something better than my last idea cross dressing I’m going to be a historian !
Today was devoted entirely to researching whether or not there actually was a church or monastery where Wybers Wood is now situated.
The internet produced little of interest so I went to the Grimsby Reference Library.
What an awesome place !
I was helped wonderfully by a librarian, hat tip to Tracey, who staggeringly lives in the same street as me, now she knows she could probably claim a rate rebate
I’ve a lot more work to do so I’ll get into details as and when my research is complete. I know you’ll find this more maddening than a season finale cliff-hanger but you’ll just have to wait.
I looked every bit the scholar today, or I would have done were it not for congenitally moronic appearance, crouched over ancient maps and pouring through ancient tomes !
If you’ve got any old maps of Lincolnshire, Great Coates or Little Coates etc please let me know.
Also info on Pewet Hall, Pewet Farm and Wyber
This is the life for me - but I need an image rehash. I am undecided as to whether I should go with the monastery theme and adopt the garb of a scholarly monk or go with something else.
I feel the tweed jacket and leather elbow patches is too clichéd and dull for Goldeneye Ba Hons it would have to be something more flamboyant.
I may also be looking for further projects once a make a series of historic breakthroughs on this project.
Regards
Benedictus Rod

Rod,
Historians can and do get away with bohemian attire… now more than ever you should explore this image. We suggest hedging your bets and aim somewhere between monk and pre-raphaelite…. doubt anyone will question it

Rod, well as it seems I am responsible for your new and very worthy vocation with my visionary powers
, I also happen to know a man who has spent many years studying lost Lincolnshire country houses and may well be able to help you further with your researches, I will give you his phone number tomorrow! Is this fate? Perhaps its divine intervention?

I feeling a lean toward lush fabrics and long flowing coats !
Though there is a nagging itch to go with a velver smoking jacket.
perhaps I’ll save the monk’s habit and hair shirt for my personal atonement during the evenings !
Best

I should not be surprised that you continue to surprise me yet suprised I am !
Phew !
You are indeed responsible and I am still at the grateful stage, let’s hope I don’t get too carried away and move onto the blame stage

Rod or Maggy…. whatever you’re calling yourself these days
We’ve had a whip round at the Coven… so far we’ve collected two old dish cloths and a couple of blue stripped ‘Js’. Now taken at face value that isn’t much but sewn together you have the makings of your first summer weight loin cloth or atonement drawers
One of the Witches said she’d have a go at humble shoes but there we had to stop her… having given up so many of life’s sinful pleasures, the Goldeneye cobbler is unlikely to feel the pinch just yet, surely some standards have to be maintained?

Rod,
Perhaps the history books will one day show how I was ungraciously ousted from my status as Freeman of the Borough of Great Grimsby.
I’d like to get my hands on the swine behind that one.

perhaps when that book is published it will also mention the barrack room lawyer who took them all one and beat tradition in proving you were eligible when evryone said you were not.
