Google to Take on Paypal and Ebay
Google launched another major salvo in their bid to take on Paypal in the battle for online payments.
Thanks to ebay Paypal has cornered the market in online payment facilities for amateur sellers or those without their own merchant facilities.
Google moved into the market with Google Checkout, a risky strategy given the damage it could do their squeaky clean brand image.
Even with such a big name behind them take up has been slow, hence the big push.
In 2007 there will be no merchant fees !
Previous offers for take up have been matched by Paypal, clearly this will not happen this time.
Potentially a big saving for booksellers willing to experiment and possibly worth looking into
