Google Is Not Always Right

Believe it or not Google is not perfect - because something’s at number one doesn’t make it true.
No doubt most of you use Google to find out the answers to questions you have - well take those answers with a pinch of salt.
What if you wanted to know who the greatest magician in Lincolnshire was for example :)

As you’ll see the #1 answer is The Great Rodini !
Whilst this is amusing, well to me at least, there is a thriving magic community in Lincolnshire so you can see the value of this answer !

It’s worth remembering that when you search.
OK, The Great Rodini is clearly a spoof (although several people have actually tried to hire me - I kid you not!) but don’t put blind faith in Google.
I’ve heard people say for example that the number one site is always the ‘Official Site’ or that it is the best site etc - not so.

Were further evidence needed The Coxeman is at #12 for How to Bring Up Children - beating over 8.5 million other serious sites.
Dr Rod seems to provide a free online diagnosis ahead of real medical sites, he’s also in the top 10 for anybody looking for a Grimsby Doctor - god forbid it’s an emergency !

As a technical aside for those interested - look at the cache time for the 2nd result, the reason I took the screen cap incidently.
Included in their index and ranking #2 only 26 minutes after I published the article - stunning work by Google, some people wait months to get pages listed.

Does anybody reading this use anyone other than Google, if so what and why ?
If you are loyal to the Big G how do you get on with it ?
Have you seen any stupid or funny search results ?

Regards
Rod

    Funny Google results?

You mean like your site appearing higher than my own, when I type my own name in?

    :)

    Sorry about that
    I think it’s called authority status :)
Google will always try and return the best site
    Cheers
