Friends in Vai Places

Well folks I have a new best friend - Oh christ ! What’s this one’s name ? regulars may well be saying, as indeed was the first response yesterday when I announced this result.

Well fear not, in an attempt to lift myself up from the MySpace gutters my new bessie M8 (as we youngsters say) in non other than the greatest guitarist in the world Steve Vai \m/

This could mark something of a well need departure for your host and is in keeping with my current resurgence in guitar playing.
Here’s a screen cap taken from my MySpace page, please note NY, Lexxi and Zarah are not guitar players

Steve Vai

Rod’s Friend Steve Vai

I shall be keeping some vacant slots in the Goldeneye diary just in case Stevie calls upon me to do the next G3 tour with him - you never know, after all I am fully up to speed now.
The excitement is all getting too much for me now I shall have a restorative cup of tea in my brand new Bart Simpson mug. Followed by a relaxing bath after which I shall dry myself with my brand new Bart Simpson towel - then perhaps I’ll rest my weary head on my new brand new Bart Simpson cushion !

Still some way to go on the growing up front it seems !

Well, well, i happen to be …… wait for it …….. impressed!!

All you need now is YM and Joe Satriani to be your friend and then the fact that all your other friends are plastic’s will be irrelevant (well nearly).

By the way, it takes a lot to impress me!

On a serious note well done, keep plucking those strings, who knows where it may lead .

    Jordan,
I had hoped to impress you one day though I admit the chances were slight :)
I’m working on Paul Gilbert and hoping to add him to my menagerie

I do intend to keep it up and am putting the hard yards in again.
I expect it will lead exactly where it has in the past and indeed where I am now …
    Absolutely nowhere !

The guitar work will all be worthwhile one day when your fame is such that Bart Simpson appears on our TV wearing Rod Collins pyjamas, drinks from a R.C. mug, has a R.C. towel and a R.C. cushion :)

    I like your style !
In the interim period I may well adopt the Bart pjs as my on stage outfit.
Not dissimilar to Angus Young’s schoolboy uniform he is still forced to wear at the age of 52 !

    Absolutely Nowhere !
    Stick with the Guitar.

But if nothing comes of it, you could always get a job as a Bart Simpson look alike, or as an extra in one of his programmes-films,
I mean it sounds as though you already have the costume-s.

Just think you could be in a blockbuster movie, on the big screen at last.
I can see it now “Bart Simpson” in the search for the “Lost Treasure of HMS Goldeneye”, or see Bart and “OO-Goldeneye” in this mega all action movie … etc.

On a serious note it is a very Sad day here, as I just found out that a Great Aunt of mine passed away at the age of 99 and a few months, would you believe it just a few months short of a hundred, she will be missed.

I have some great childhood memories of her, especially visiting her as she used to use an Arga for her cooking, the smells that came from that kitchen were wonderful, I shall always remember them, even now after all those years just thinking of that kitchen makes me feel hungry.

a sad day indeed, though I have to say it makes a change nowadays to hear of such an age, we seem beset by people passing away at relatively young ages !
