Famous People Born in Lincolnshire Grimsby
Who are the most famous people born in Grimsby Lincolnshire ?
Well, not a subject that most would feel will take up a lot of column inches, if indeed any!
But besides myself
there is another Lincolnshire celebrity and they have a connection to your host.
Don’t believe me - here is pictorial evidence

Taken Over 30 Years Ago
Back right you’ll see my good self, the girl in front is Helen Fospero nee Helen Morton.
She went on to be the celebrity and entertainment presenter in Hollywood for ITV’s flagship TV show GMTV then read the news on Yorkshire TV before being a news reader on Channel 5 and Sky !

30 Years On
Having been recognized in the street twice now I too am also used to being something of a celebrity
indeed my fame seems to have extended to the Middle East so we local celebrities have much in common.
For those new to the site who no doubt know of Helen’s success and wonder where the 30 years have taken me … Well I went on to become the biggest specialist crime fiction first edition rare book dealer in Grimsby
All of this came about from thinking of the past and old photographs and my father’s 81st birthday.
This day was commemorated by a slap up lunch generously hosted by my father himself.
He actually had little choice but to pay the bill as when the meal was over, being 81, he was not quite as fast on his feet as my brother, myself and my mother who successfully did a runner to the car park moments before the bill arrived !
You’ve seen me yesterday some years ago fishing, now over 30 years ago as an immature boy.
Here is the latest picture of my father and myself marking his 81st birthday for posterity.
The generational difference is plain to see - as is my level of maturity when facing my brother who was handling the camera (and had us squinting looking into the sun)

Father & Son
I swear I was more mature and had more sense when the first picture was taken.
Either way, a great day, I shall raise a glass to my father tonight and toast him in the traditional manner.
He’s a great man - more impressive than I shall ever be
When he see the picture above though he’ll no doubt wonder whether it was worth bothering ![]()
Cheers
Mr Collins Jr

Rod, Following on from the fishing photo, all I can say about the latest insight into your past is: the one that got away?

Rod,
Pity you didn’t dress for the occasion today unlike Father who looks splendid… still never mind no doubt Mother and LB looked the part
As to the shot of young Rod, we were slightly disappointed that we couldn’t see the whole pattern on the sweater, have you still got it?
As for Helen, she seems to have her fingers in her ears….. could it be that you were just telling her your thoughts on women in the 21st century?

WoE,
Nice one! I only removed my fingers from my ears whilst driving there and back, it isn’t soundproof but it does ‘mute’ him somewhat. Mrs C did indeed look the part as always, sadly let down by my elder brother, the words ‘Chimpanzee’ ‘Tea’ and ‘Party’ spring to mind.

I’m suffering from wardrobe fatigue
I’m bored with just about every article of clothing I own.
Sadly the jumper is long since gone, shame - could be retro chic ! Well perhaps not

Rod,
The polo shirts are a bit Augusta and the junior sweater, a bit Val d’Isere
… fabulous though these are for the Tigers and Val’s of this world, it’s not the new you. Where ever it is you’re aiming with this new image (yet to materialize unless we all blinked and missed it!) please avoid the leather trouser urge unless of course you’re on a ranch.
WoE - keeping a witchly eye on mens fashion for summer 2008

Rod,
What, no new image…. after such a big build up, ah well vintage it is then
Speaking of summer the Witches had a satisfactory sit outside with coffee today in the Coven’s mediterranean yard, sun streaming down. Sadly though frost bite eventually led to a mass evacuation and a group huddle around the cauldron. After all the effort to build the yard, we now have to nip outside at the drop of a hat every time the sun peeps out from now until November, no excuses. Onwards then to our next job to gently cajole the inmates into action, plumbing and painting…. a Witches work is never done.

the new look is going to be vintage indeed, the oldest look in the world
as god intended
Pleased to hear your yard is performing it’s task with due efficay, even if the weather isn’t.
You’ll not know what to do with yourself when the Witches work is finally done !
