Don’t Ban Junk Food for Kids

Don’t Ban Junk Food for Kids !
It could be the best meal of the day

With news today that the ban on advertising junk food aimed at kids during children’s TV programmes has come into force I’m wondering why ?
Obviously TV channels are squealing, £37 million in lost revenue etc, and the oppressive nanny state, sorry government, will be rubbing their meddling little hands but is it all a lot of noise about nothing ?

How do they decide what is junk food ?
I suspect for many kids out there MacDonald’s would be far better quality than the usual crap their parents plate up for them.

“No little Johnny you cannot have a 100% beef beef burger from Macdonalds they’re bad for you - come home and I’ll fry you some reconstituted mechanically recovered meat chicken dippers for you !”

It’s not television, adverts or fast food outlets that make kids fat it’s the parents who sit back and watch their children get in this state.
Everybody knows that smoking is bad for you, we all know what foods make us fat. Nobody has ever watched a cigarette commercial and thought
“I know I’ll start smoking”
Has anybody ever seen a Pizza advert and thought
“I know I think I’ll become obese”
No they haven’t they are all personal life choices !

Our modern society seems to need somebody to blame for everything just so they can pretend it’s not their fault.

It’s time more people started taking some personal responsibility and accepting that they are responsible for themselves and their offspring.

The government should be running the country and not our lives !
Bloody Politicians !
Come the revolution I’ll have all their heads on the railings outside Downing Street

    Rod,
Junk food is popular with kids because it tastes good and popular with parents because there is no effort required to prepare it. Lazy parents produce lazy kids which goes some way to explaining why our food heritage has gone down the pan. Everyone bangs on about the Italians, Spanish and French but we used to be the same, the recipe books prove it. The difference between us and those mentioned is that they can still be a***d, we can’t.
It all comes down to self discipline, you’ve either got it or you haven’t.

    that’s absolutely it in a nutshell !
Hence personal responsibility as opposed to state responsibility.

Let em all get on with it anyway !

Fast Food & Veeeeeery Fast Food:
I should imagine the closest some of these fast foods get to real meat is if
they happen to be sat next to some in the freezer !.

that’s the irony of it, much of the fast food outlet fodder is better than the garbage people buy from the supermarkets.
I know from a previous profession that the standards in factories producing for MacDonald’s are higher than required for anyone else.
Higher even than pet food factories - that’s not a joke by the way.
Pet food production is more stringent than that for humans !
