DHL Suck !

Off we go again with some of the things that get my vote and get my goat this week.
From DHL to Council Tax - from cheap Ugg boots to exorcists - it’s time for the winners and losers

Most things in the outside world are rubbish it seems - everything just gets worse. It’s for that reason I prefer my own world here on a plot of land in Wybers Wood - it’s infinitely more pleasant and relaxing.
I heartily recommend abandoning the ‘real world’ and moving into your own. If that poses practical problems and issues that render it unrealistic then you could try the ‘madness route’
It’s not a bad plan B

Gets My Vote

Formula One
The new season starts and potentially one of the best in living memory

Litter Picking Kids from Great Coates School
Nice work little people - much appreciated
Now . . . if only those adults, who are supposed to know better , would stop littering we’d really be getting somewhere

Foyles War
What a great series of productions, great period sets, well written plots and sublime acting by Michael Kitchen - he must be one of our finest actors - deserves far more recognition

Exorcists
Yes they’re real ! The Vatican even has one which is just as well because ‘the devil is at work in the Vatican’ according to the man himself - crikey !
I’m sure a lot would agree with his statement, arguably it’s ever been the case

My Kitchen Garden
Started work on preparing the ground - just waiting for things to warm up a little before planting and we’ll be off - bet you all can’t wait that

Gets My Goat

Formula One
The new season started and could be one of the dullest - why keep changing the rules all the time !

Imitation Ugg Boots
Those cheap imitations of the original Ugg boots are crippling a generation of young women. Quite literally breaking their feet. It even has a term coined by podiatric surgeons - “The Ugg Shuffle” - it rung a bell when I thought about it - just look at the twisted way they walk in them.
Abandon them or buy the real thing - spending more on a sandwich and cappuccino than on your footwear was never the brightest idea anyway !

Council Tax
£1372 for the year
For those in the UK it’s a local tax paid to the local council and is on top of income tax, value added tax, national insurance etc etc etc
What’s your council tax ?

DHL Courier Service
To quote the immortal Bart Simpson - “I didn’t think it was possible for something to both suck and blow at the same time”
Wot no Sabaton hoodies !

Annual Fitness Test for Children
The head of this country’s medical profession is calling for the above - waste of time - deal with the dead beat parents first - it’s their fault.
Perhaps it may be a good idea to let certain people just get on with it and let Natural Selection take its course !

Homophobic Californian Senators
Republican state Senator Roy Ashburn has continually been anti gay - until he got arrested for drink driving leaving a gay bar !
Another senator has expressed concern that legislation giving equal rights to gays could lead to bestiality !
What planet are these people on ?

If you’ve got anything you want to Pan or Praise feel free to do so or indeed take me to task on anything I’ve said
Let us know what sinks or soars your end

Just to prove I’m not nuts here’s a squirrel - it’s dedicated to CK because I know he likes them :)

I was Paintballing on sunday and i must say my eyes where Drawn to the tops of the trees on more than one occasion this picture just tipifies the mind of a squirrel, look at it you can read its mind, Its thinking “go on if you dare come closer and am gunna have you”. ive got a healthy respect for these critters after getting savaged on the very same paintball field a few years back, they may look cute but readers BEWARE they have sharp claws and pointy teeth, trust me ive got the scars to prove it…….

Ugg Boots, Rod i totaly agree there rubish, ive got a pair of Viper Asult Combat Boots that have a guarentee they are made of Kevlar and are Guarenteed if you step on a land mine your foot will remain intact however you leg probably will not, the point being footware is very important especialy for kids as there feet are still developing these Uggs should come with a Health Warning as they are subjecting the nations Children and Adults to YEARS OF painfull feet a and irapairable damage..

    regards

    Chris,
I’ve always been an advocate of good footwear - spend money on shoes and boots !
It makes sense in terms of economy as well. I have shoes that weere expensive but they last forever and still look like new over a decade later for example - that makes them cheap !

Also when it comes to practical everyday footwear just think of the work your feet are doing - at least give them a hand - take the pressure off them
the point being footware is very important especialy for kids as there feet are still developing
That hits the nail on the head Chris

    Rod,
Add my vote to the “Foyle’s War” series. I have watched each episode at least three times and I never tire of them. On the other hand, the anti-gay folks HAVE come from another planet, as, I think, the Pope did.

    Annie,
I watched an episode on Sunday and another last night - cracking stuff !
I think the pope came from “The Inquisition” as I understand it, the ancient department actually still exists in the Vatican and he used to be in charge of the banning of books and control of ‘heretical’ information.

Ugg boots should be called eugh boots in my opinion, whether they’re the cheap version or otherwise. They’re not particularly attractive and give one the shuffle which you mentioned.

Council Tax. Don’t get me started on that one. With my ‘generous’ discount for having the wisdom to live alone, I’m still forking out over 70 quid a month for a Band A, 2up, 2 down property. Grrr :s .

Annual fitness test for kids? Oh please! I work in the health service and I see money wasted every day on daft schemes like this, meanwhile we still cannot manage to get enough nurses. Doctors are still overworked and dangerously tired and mistakes are being made. If you want your kids to be reasonably healthy try not feeding them lard and make sure they get out in the fresh air instead of cooping them up so they get Playstation thumb. It really is that simple, honestly.

I can’t wait for the next round of ‘Rod’s Kitchen garden’. Just put my seed potatoes in and I shall be repotting my beetroot seedlings this week. They should be ready to go in the ground in a couple of weeks. I’ll keep you posted ;)
