Daniel Craig Nominated as Best Actor Casino Royale

Daniel Craig has been nominated for a Best Actor award for his portrayal of James Bond in Casino Royale.

It is certainly a vindication of him as a choice and his performance subsequently. It must leave him feeling not a little smug given the amount of negativity there was when he first got the part of 007.

Both on this site and my Goldeneye site we tracked the new 007 film from the very beginning and felt positive from the start. Seems like only yesterday I was publishing the Bond Girl Handicap Race! All the runners in the, often very speculative, race to be the new Bond Girl.

The page gets a lot of traffic still and I see it ranks at #4 for the term

A great result for a book website

As well as being up for the best actor Bafta Casino Royale has also been nominated for the following:

    Best British Film
Adapted Screenplay - Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and Paul Haggis
Achievement In Film Music - David Arnold
    Cinematography - Phil Meheux

I don’t recall seeing any of the other films being nominated in so many categories. A great result and it has to be said, well deserved.
Without doubt the best new film I saw last year, or indeed the year before that

    Re the Bond Girls:
Sienna Miller has just revealed she was offered the part of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale but turned it down. A good job too !
Eva Green was a far superior choice and did a great job. The ability to act is also something of a plus point over Sienna Miller.

The film has also become the most successful in the history of the James Bond franchise, it has, at the time of writing, taken £232million !

I never understand why movies are compared thus, surely stating how many people watched the film at the cinema would make the picture more accurate?
Without factoring in rises in ticket prices the above figure seems irrelevant as a comparison to previous 007 films
