Collins Crime Club
One of our resource sites has become something of a resource for collectors of the Collins Crime Club publishers imprint. This publishing house is very popular amongst collectors of first edition mystery fiction books - but still one would have to think something of a limited appeal.
I took the trouble to add some pages that replicated their original quaterly magazine, mainly for the reason of optimising other pages, I hardly expected much, if any, response.
Did half the magazine then ran out of time, interest and the will to live so left the final page link as ‘rest coming soon’
Only then to receive requests as to when the rest would be live !
Nice to know your efforts are appreciated and extensively viewed as is the continued interest in the Crime Club, its work, their authors and rare first edition books

You didn’t expect us to be anything less than #1 did you ?

Hi
are the newer Collins Crime Club books of any value to collectors?
I have quite a few and I think some may be rare as you only see library copies usually
Thanks
April

Hello April
most late Collins Crime Club books are of relatively minor value I am afraid. You are quite right to mention ex-public library copies. These often accounted for the largest part of the print run. So whilst not hugely valuable many of these books can actually be difficult to find in fine condition
There are some notable exceptions in terms of collectability though:
Jonathan Gash
Reginald Hill
Michael Pearce
Are just three that spring immediately to mind
Hope this helps a little April

It is worth mentioning, for the benefit of newer collectors, that all Collins Crime Club first editions should have orange/red cloth.
Other colours are reprints, later editions or later impressions - whcihever phrase you prefer.
They are NOT variants !

It is worth mentioning that there is a common misconception the books published by Collins Crime Club are book club editions.
This is not true all of their publications were sold through the same outlets as other publishers - the only mail order aspect was the magazine and mailing list advising members of new titles coming out
