Jamie,
couldn't agree more, a great day for all concerned, even more so for those who met old friends and comrades.
The parade was telling, watching very old men marching with every generation down to teenagers was compelling, we've hardly known a time when we haven't lost men and women from the services nor does it look likely we will any day soon.
Regards,
Rod

I would certainly have been out there looking, as would nearly everyone else who was working there today. Mind you HUY was, and always is, the standby airfield for the Waddington Show so should any of the planes need to land for any reason including faults, refuelling or flight delays etc then they would drop in on us, so the potential to have some 'different' planes on the tarmac is an exciting prospect, should it ever happen!

Needless to say if anything interesting was to drop in at any time and I was on shift, i would endeavour to get piccies of it. Mind you we did have two AH-64 Apache Helicopter's in last week, but they are regular visitors and there is an occasional Chinook or two that come in for refuelling. The excitement has passed when they come in now as we see the so often now! In fact i seem to remember i have some photos i took on a Chinook a while back.

Graham M,
yourself and everybody else involved deserve a great deal of credit for the event, I actually remarked on the day to somebody that organizing such an event must be a nightmare, not just logistically but in todays worls . . . the paperwork :(

In appreciation,

Graham H,
it was indeed encouraging and I imagine had the weather been like it is today even more people would have turned out.

Well, you may
not have seen the lancaster yesterday, but we have just had our very own flypast at the airport. came along the line of the runway about 100 foot up and then banked away towards grimsby/cleethorpes

we dont get many perks but when we do, its well worth it.
