We used to have an agreement with family and friends that for the adults if you were giving a gift it had to be something you had made especially for that person. I wish we could go back to that arrangement - I cant remember when or why it stopped but I am hoping to reinstate it next year

shopping anywhere at Christmas is a nightmare! After having the backs of my legs rammed with a trolley for the third time in as many minutes by somebody (the same person each time) in Louth this morning I spun round on the offender gave them my very best ‘wither and perish’ glance and very politely said -I’m sorry am I in your way at all? He didn’t reply but barged past to get to the checkout in front of me. I have to admit to feeling some satisfaction when the handles on his plastic bag gave out just as he was leaving the shop. Yes Christmas brings out the worst in some people ( think I might need to include myself in that)

Jean,
the issue really is not just that Reacher is 6ft 5″ and 250lb but that so much is made of it in the books - the author bangs on about it all the time so the association is so strong in people’s minds I suspect.

Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time Jean, it’s freezing, rainy and miserable here and I’m taking no photos at all

Hi Rod happy Christmas cant imagine a worse miscasting than Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher we have the books on CDs for when we do long distance travelling,its quite often who we would cast to play him Tom has never come up,Jack has an Arnie type build.We are lovely and warm in Spain lots to photo as it where lots of filming took place including Lawence of Arabia ,as it a volcanic area the rock colours are fab in a small patch there can be 8 or 9 different minerals.the old mine working are everywhere and go back to Attilla who mined silver to be able to attack Rome,the nearest beach had Phonicians settle to make bronze,so much history and the spanish just ignore it ,the highspeed rail has just ploughed through roman ruins that have not been excavated. The best bit of the day saw a booted eagle on the way to shops Jean

I prefer to support local shops etc and regularly pay more than I need to but there’s just nothing here.

I’ve never tried the infra-red Garry, I’ve looked at the idea of a conversion or at mimicking it - I’ll look into it further I think.

I do all my xmas shopping online now after noticing the decline in manners of a lot of xmas shoppers these days and I had most of it done by the time December rolled in - first time ever I’ve been prepared properly! (I’m bound to have forgotten something though no doubt)

Good choice on the coat! Is it the classic 6 button or modern 10?

Nice pic too! Winter scenes definitely look better in black & white. Have you ever tried infra-red photography? If done right they look stunning! I bought a good filter a few years back but haven’t got round to doing anything with it yet….always on my ‘to do’ list…along with thousands of other things that I’ll probably never get round to doing.

Where does all the time go?
