Changes in ebay Store Fees
Things are about to change on the ebay stores-shop front.
Sadly not for the bettter
Fees are going up ! (unusual for ebay I know)
The shop used to be a no-brainer for any professional seller. Whilst not without problems, positioning in standard searches etc, it was that cheap you had to do it.
As usual ebay used the good value ploy to get things started, the store fees were always going to go up, once established.
However this time it is slightly different. The problem is that due to the increasing unviability of the auction format too many people have moved over to stores. I myself stopped doing auction a long time ago and just let 50 or so item rotate in a shop.
The amount of people actually using the auction format has dropped dramatically, especially among professional sellers.
So just a heads up for those who may be unaware - some may need to check the contnued viability if they are not selling much out of the shop (for some read the likes of me!)
A brief breakdown of the fee increases below
Starting Price |
New Insertion Fee |
Current Fee |
| $0.01 – 24.99 | 5¢ | 2¢ |
|
$25.00 – and higher |
10¢ | 2¢ |
| Selling Price | New Final Fee |
|
| $0.01 – 25.00 | 10% | 8% |
|
$25.01 – 100.00 |
7% | 5% |
| $100.01 – 1,000.00 | 5% | 5% |
| $1,000.01 and higher | 3% | 3% |

Used to have real shops but went online in late 90s and clsoed down bricks n mortar shop
Have been selling since 1999 on eBay and am about to stop becasue of fee increases and lack of visibilty but, most of all, eBay’s total lack of regard for small sellers (and we are buyers as well)
For music sellers (aand buyers) I suggest gemm.com, netsounds.com, musticstack.com and cdandlp.com ALSO djangos.com are opening in Europe so are worth contacting as a venue
Amazon.co.uk runs a telephone support system where they ring you back immediately! whilst I ( as a powerseller) have to wait 3 days for eBay to reply to my queries
They need to be punished for their ignorance

Andrew,
thanks for commenting and I could not agree more!
They have abused their virtual monopoly and displayed breathtaking arrogance. I believe they have/will push things too far nad the site will go full circle into being a carboot sale where people sell off their own items that ‘owe them nothing’
The venue for professionals is all but dead in many fields
