Cellphones Friend or Foe ?

Are mobile phones now somewhat passé ?

We all know how handy and useful they are, or can be, but how often do we actually need them ?
I’ve had a cell phone for well over 12 years I guess and remember when people used to stop and look at you when it rang. They’ve become fashionable and statements of style now, no longer just the handy piece of kit it was.
All the cool people have to have the latest ‘in phone’ god forbid you should be embarrassed by your 2 year old cellphone !

Well, I’m here to tell you it’s cooler not to carry one - more impressive still not to own one !

Popular opinion may be following suit as well. A recent BBC poll found that they were regarded as the worst invention ever ! Twice as unpopular as nuculear power and 5 times worse than fast food !

There’s more to socializing than send text messages, why not try meeting up with your friends rather than sending them text messages.
How many calls are actually necessary ?
The most asked question when speaking to someone on a mobile is “where are you?”

In the UK there are now more cell phones than people, Luxemburg is even worse with 1.6 phones for every member of the population !

So there you go, ditch the phone, if you cannot then …….

Don’t send txt messages when in the company of others
Switch it off when in restaurants etc
    Ditch that moronic ringtone
When you go out in the evening - leave it at home

Had to stop tying just now, my bloody mobile just rang - I swear it could only happen to me !

you do not need to ditch your phone, leave it at home, switch it off or even change the ringtone- just take it for a drive to rural lincolnshire- it never works anyway!!! re: earlier testimony

    Dinosaur,
absolutely ! It used to work 10 years ago but it never had a camera so you can’t have everything I suppose.
Might as well have a couple of cans and some string really !

There are a few well known hot spots out in the Wolds though, those in the know can then get reception, albeit briefly.

    Rod,

Speaking of communications …. family history …….. how long have the Collins been in Grimsby? It’s just that AWTM is researching his roots and has found a Great Grandmother called Collins in Grimsby. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if you were related!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WoE (or should we say cousin!)

we’ve been here some time I believe, a relative has been doing our tree for some years, I can look into it if you email me the details - hopefully there is a connection, it could well explain the yearning I have in my blood for the tang of salt air !

    Cheers Cuz !

    Mobile Phone

The first mobile I had ended up making a quick exit out of a car window,
I could never get anything done, with it ringing all the time,
    hence the quick exit.
I did get another, years later, which I only use for emergencies.
