3. Casino Royale
FLEMING, IAN.
Bookseller: Joe Ninety., A.B.A.A.
(, U.S.A.) Price: £ 36417.85
Book Description: London: Jonathan Cape, 1953, 1953. First Edition of the first James Bond novel. A bit of foxing to both the book and the dust jacket; small erasure inside the front cover; bookplate of Richard Manney (and sold at the dispersal of his library at Sotheby’s in 1991). In a custom clamshell box. Presentation copy; inscribed by Fleming to a colleague at the Kemsley papers, “Ian Munro from the Author.” A collector of antiquarian books himself, Fleming, at least this early in his career as a novelist, preferred the nearly-archaic convention of inscribing books as “The Author.” Perhaps this was an affectation

How much would they have been worth if they hadn’t decided to release Casino Royale as a new movie starring Daniel Craig?
On a seperate note the 5.5% credit-card processing fee is surely usury? Purchasing the first example would cost an extra £2175.94 if you were to pay by credit card. It would actually be cheaper to take the weekend off, and fly to collect it, wherever you lived in the world!!!!
And there was I moaning about Paypal fees.

Craig,
signed copies have, and do, sell for roughly this price. All depends on condition of course and how interesting the inscription is.
As to the 5.5%, this seller is rightly annoyed by the imposition of the sites own card system and no longer being able to use your own facilities.
The site in question will be charged about 1.5% to process the card, they then add an extra 4% in what they charge the bookseller - a gouge.
Also let’s not forget the 8% commission as well !
Don’t buy through the site - contact the professional seller direct

Perhaps if three sellers are struggleing to sell the same book
they might want to consider putting it on ebay !
I will keep look out for this one ,

Hi there,
Perhaps you can throw a bit more light on this one ,
How can three people own the same book !
The way i see it is …….
1 - Buys the Book ,
2 - Gets in on the act - for vanity or unable to fund such an item
and then
3 - Gets stuck with it !
Either way , it looks very silly, and has got to have ruined the sale of what has got to be a fantastic item ,

Good idea, one could photograph it, another could list it then the third could parcel it up, seems like a fair division of labour.
