The Daniel Craig Workout for Quantum of Solace
Initial Information on the New Workout Regime Used By Daniel Craig for the Follow Up to Casino-Royale
Following on from our previous post Daniel Craig’s Workout for Casino Royale details are now coming through about his preparation for the sequel Quantum of Solace.
There are a few rumours and unqualified suggestions littered around the net but this information we bring you comes from an actual interview with James Bond himself. It appeared in The Times magazine 24.11.07.

The latest actor to play 007 is already in training for the new film. Much was made of his muscular physique when he walked out of the sea in Casino Royale and the interviewer notes how fit he is already looking, somewhat to DC’s embarrassment, though not as big as before.
DC admitted to abandoning the exercise regime once filming was complete:
|
No, I didn’t, but certainly relaxed for three months and ate what I wanted, and then it’s hell because as soon as you get back in the gym, you have to work all that off, and it takes much longer than it does to put it on |
He felt the need to look brutal and to have a body that reinforced the new image of James Bond as a hardened killer. For the next movie though it looks as though the actor intends to tone it down a little

In the December 2007 issue of GQ Daniel Craig says that Simon Waterson is again going to be his personal trainer but reiterates the above confirming that he is not looking to add quite so much muscle and bulk. He further jokingly refers that to the rumour that he has refused to show as much skin for the next film. Jokingly agreeing with it but saying Barbara Broccoli will probably have other ideas so he’ll probably have to take a shower or something.
According to UK tabloid newspaper The Daily Mirror DC is also doing Yoga and Pilates as part of his preparation. This information is attributed to An Insider Said. It has been widely picked up over the net though how much veracity there is in it we cannot say.
We mention it only as it does fit in with what he confirms above and may help avoid injury during filming, something which plagued him last time.
We prefer fact to rumour, hence our quotes from the man himself.
As things gear up we hope to be able to bring you a fully detailed workout and gym programme just as we did before. In the meantime if you cannot wait and want to get into training you can check out the previous article here it also contains links to Simon Waterson’s site where you can also buy the fully laid out gym, diet and exercise programme devised specifically for Daniel Craig and the movie

Rod,
A great post, very worthwhile. I would suggest the most striking aspect to DC’s training regime is that, despite approaching forty years of age he (and most others if they are so inclined) can considerably change his body shape for the better.
Inspiring stuff!

Rod,
We shall watch and consider before offering a padded Peruvian sweater…. bad news about yours by the way, the knitters thought you might be a woman and have sewn the shoulder pads in a new and innovative place
We have asked them to knit you an outrageous hat to detract attention from your cleavage…. for a minute there we thought it was a disaster …

Daniel talks about his recent training regime in a MSN interview;
Q. Tell us about your preparation?
DC: Before Christmas I was doing about five days a week in the gym. But then, that would be in the evenings and then two months before Christmas I was here every day weapons training, rehearsing, script discussions, talking with the director, doing things that you do when you’re planning to do a movie this size.
