Blogging Using Mobile Broadband
Well folks the next evolution of this site is upon us.
I am sat here blogging using my new mini laptop and connected to the internet via a T Mobile broadband connection
I’ll do some proer reviews for those more interested at a later date this is just for the heck of it.
Initial impression are excellent, very fast connections and I have downloaded some software incredibly quickly.
The purpose behind this is to give me internet access where ever I may go. It will also work with my laptop and desktop so should lose my regular broadband connection I can simply use this.
It will also allow me to blog any time and any place - I knowthat you’re thrilled by that prospect !
It will also widen my scope as Tintin Ace Reporter
I’m not a techno junkie but I have to say I’m really pleased and excited by this and hope that it will change a few things that go on around here hopefully all for the better.
Perhaps I should look for places to go and blog live from - suggestions greatly appreciated ![]()
Regards from mobile cyberspace
Rod

I’ll do a proper and sensible review but early indications are even better than I could have hoped - opportunities abound

@WoE
One would suspect that dongle knowledge has been imparted by a sea faring type?
@Rod
Did you buy the Advent 4211 (MSI Wind clone) from PC World? Look forward to a review, and reviews of how good or bad mobile the T-mobile broadband is in the Grimsby area.

Craig
I did buy the Advent 4221 and will do a full review asap - got a great deal as well.
All I need now is somebody who has an external hard drive and knows how to load a couple of discs onto it for me
Cheers

External hard drive or external cd drive?
Is this for installing software, such as Photoshop etc?

Craig

being an expert I can often be confusing
Revised guide
There’s no thingy for bunging discs into the machine so I have to load photoshop and my camera software via some other thingy.
I may go and buy a case now - I can just about manage that level of technical upgrade
Cheers

Craig,
The Witches found out about dongles all by themselves we’ll have you know
Craig perhaps you would be kind enough to tell us why we should want an Advent 4211 instead of a dongle, using only basic language so as not to confuse the likes of Rod

Just logged on to this from less than sunny Aarhus, seems I have some catching up to do!
Technology or should I say the toys have clearly moved on in leaps and bounds in my absence
Do I need one?!!

avast there !

I’ve never heard of the place, it must be outside of Lincolnshhire
Do I need one?!!
Since when does ‘need’ ever come into the equation of buying gadgets
I shall be blogging some initial impression and a review of the combuster itself - possibly tonight whilst drinking claret !!!!!!
Drinking and blogging sounds like a potential disaster !
Safe journey

Buy a 2Gb USB memory stick or SD card
Plug into shiny new Dell PC
Insert CD into shiny Dell PC drive
Copy contents of CD onto USB stick
Insert USB stick into mini laptop
Install by clicking on the setup file

AWTM,
We are currently awaiting with something of a fanfare, the comparison betwixt dongle and Rod’s new toy. We have it on fairly mediocre authority that in places where there is limited connectivity, a dongle might be the answer. It appears one can pay a set fee and then pay as you go or have a monthly tariff which varies. Beyond that we cannot say but as we understand it, dongles will be big in future

thanks for the technical information on how to get software onto the advent 4211 netbook.
The only problem was the first word you used …
