Hi,me and my family were having a ride out in our 4x4 round the fields where we live..My daughter spotted something big and black sat on the dyke side in the field next to where we were! My partner got out the truck and startled it,it ran off like a bullet,it was larger than a german shepherd with a tail about 3ft long..Wow what a sight, very unnerving though!! Police have been informed and there has been 4 other sightings in the this area in the last week..The police wildlife officer is coming to see us..We have been baffled why we havent seen much wildlife lately and friends of ours have found mutilated lambs in their field!!!

just found your big cats in lincolnshire story and can only relay what i was told as i was not present but during the summer of last year 2011 my 18 year old son and his friend ,also 18 and my husband where fishing at Oasis lakes in North somercoates ,they had just arrived and had finished setting their gear up when a large white cat appeared in one of the fishing pegs , it has been described as standing a good two feet tall and was seen by all three of them, and even though it was early morning it was light enough to see it clearly as the owner does not open up the gates till daylight, and they are not known for any story telling so i certainly believe what they say.

hiya my mum lives at Laughterton and she spotted a very large cat like animal in her neighbours garden this morning she thinks it was a lynx but by the time she got outside it had vanished but i also recall many years ago i was walking along kettlethorpe road towards fenton and up on the hills in the distance in a field i remember seeing a very large black animal but it was too far away to make out what animal it was and only being a child i was scared and ran home but i do believe there is a large black cat thats roams around the area and has done for years and would love for somebody to be able to prove this is true and not just silly stories that people have made up because i believe it for sure like many others do.

@RikGrimsby- the 'cat' was about 4.5 ft long, and nearly 2ft tall.the time was 11:15 pm. The creature was just in the light from the back of Novartis next to Tioxide.I was about 30 metres away max, and then it disappeared in the ditch/ dyke at the bottom of the bank. I know what I saw and I didn't hang about for another look. Unfortunately ( or maybe not) I haven't seen it again and I don't really want to. The only people who believe me are the ones who have seen what I've seen.Sorry I can't be of any more help. Cheers, Steve F.

I was assessing Bigby Quarry near Brigg for the Lincolnshire Biodiversity Partnership on Thursday 09.02.12 when I watched a large four-legged animal run from the main face of the quarry, up a 2 metre ramp into a higher level and disappear. The animal had clearly been disturbed by my arrival and at first I believed it to be a black labrador/retriever-type dog. But as I watched it move, I was less sure as it moved like a cat rather than a dog. I did watch my back afterwards until I had completed my survey but I had no other sightings.

There were lots of paw prints in the snow at several places in the quarry but I am a gelogist and not a zoologist! I will go back and have another look armed with camera.

Barbara,
thank you for the update - really appreciated. I know you're not keen on it, for understandable reasons, but it's pretty exciting - I wish I'd had a similar experience.
Kind regards,
Rod
