Beat Depression - Walk in the Country
Serious medical research has revealed that walking in the country can be effective in the fight against depression and feelings of well-being !
When tested, they found that 70% of people responded positively showing reduced levels of depression and an increase in in self-esteem was reported by 90% of those taking part in the trials.
With more and more people feeling depressed in this country, up 6% last year, Mind are calling for more research into this. Incredibly, 31 million prescriptions were written for anti-depressants in this country last year so it certainly seems wise to look at all options.
You need not be clinically depressed, or even feeling a little low, to enjoy the benefits of walking.
Granted, walking in the country presents logistical problems for some, so try and find parks, even quiet leafy streets.
Not only will you feel better but your physical health will improve and it keeps/gets you slim.
Regulars will know how fond we are here of the daily constitutional, now here is proof positive of even more benefits to walking - give it a try !

How about cycling in the country - village gossip reports eccentric woman on very dated racing bike pedalling madly at unearthly times of the morning - no doubt obsessive behaviour that will burn out shortly.
More seriously, these mad bursts of hidden energy have indeed cleared the mind (vision a bit blurry though!), lifted the spirits and, whilst the leg muscles tremble, brain activity is definitely more alive. Better mood too - good for all!

LW
just being out in the fresh and and getting some exercise has to be a tonic.
There is a ton of meaningless rubbish generated by many of these research programmes but I do believe there is something in this one.
