Bargain Harry Potter Books Absolute Madness
For those out there who have not heard
the seventh, and final, instalment of the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling is out. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the most hyped and eagerly awaited book in publishing history but what on earth are the morons selling it up to ?
This should be a nice little earner for bookshops, the best of the year. How can they go wrong you’d ask ? Well simple …
The brain donors that runs Asda supermarket for example are selling first editions with a cover price of £17.99 for just £5 !
Simply killing it for everyone, you may remember they did the same with the latest
007 dvd Casino Royale and Operation Goldeneye that ensued.
Everybody likes a bargain, myself included, and nobody gloated more than I over my cheap copy of Casino but this just kills the market.
Amazon are selling at £8.99
Playdotcom are at £9.99 with free delivery
Tesco (website) states £8.87
This has to be another loss-leader by Asda and I suspect is the main reason why the publishers Bloomsbury didn’t want to supply them when the row erupted earlier this week.
Anyway that’s my opinion - good value yes but killing any chance of a profit for independent bookshops who are already struggling to stay open sucks !
If anyone else out there bought or saw it priced cheaply let us know
Let’s try and find the cheapest copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows online or in the shops
Cheers
Rod

Rather amusingly over 800 have hit the UK ebay site already, most failing to sell. Even more amusingly the seller who got £4.40 their brand new copy minus listing fees, final value fees and Paypal costs - genuis !
There was also a genuine signed copy up for sale which also failed to sell.
The £98,000 price tag may have been a factor in that
Presumably all these half-wits thought it was going to be an inspired idea to try and sell this book on ebay.
PS: some bonehead even goes as far as to claim the book has
Sold Out ! so get your copy here

Rod,
Woolworths are selling at 6.99 provided you spend £10 or more in the store, 8.99 if you don’t.

Jordan,
my entire page summed up in one word !
They could all have made good money out of this book and still given readers a fair deal.

There seems to be more interest on the various auction sites in the
PROMO BOOK BAG, than the book ?.
I see also the Very rare signed copies are starting to appear, bidding on one online auction site is already over £60 for a genuine very rare signed copy …..
” Yes mate, we know they are all genuine”.
