Aston Martin Rapide against a Lexus

It’s time I put some effort into yet another Top of the Pops and Top of the Flops list
Check out who or what gets praise heaped upon them and conversely who or what gets scorn poured upon them
Some deserving cases this week

Worthy of Praise

Pamela Anderson
I’ve been telling you all for ages that one day I’m going to get my chance - and that day looms !
Pammy is looking to buy a British home by the seaside . . . I confidently predict Cleethorpes
We know it won’t be Yorkshire because we all know (give it a read) Yorkshire Sucks ;)
When she comes to Lincolnshire I’ll be in . . . no only in but in like Flynn

Oasis
The bookies have stopped taking bets on who’ll win the Brits award for best British Album of the Last 30 Years
(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
Winner by a country mile - what else could it be ?

Aston Martin Rapide
A beautiful new 4 door Aston Martin, if it wasn’t for the cost of buying one, the depreciation, insurance and the cost of petrol and maintaining it I’d buy one :)

Cat Owners
More educated and more intelligent than dog owners - officially it now seems.

Worthy of Scorn & Derision

Gordon Brown
Obviously he’s deserving of a permanent place but watch out for one of the most disgusting and cynical pieces of electioneering coming your way
I understand he and his wife have done an interview with Piers Morgan for his show that specialises in getting every guest to admit or talk about something that causes them to break down.
Brown and his wife are said to be in tears, or close to, talking about the child they lost. It’s an unbelievable and desperate thing to do in the run up to an election.
Is it a coincidence that the serving Prime Minister is being interviewed by a tabloid TV hack and breaking down just before an election ?
You decide ! Either way kissing babies is one thing but using an appalling tragedy is another !

Toyota & Lexus
Advertising that money can’t buy . . . Disastrous

Jessops Camera Shop Chain
I predicted liquidation some time ago and now it’s happened sadly.
Is there a future for anything even bordering on a specialist shop on the high street ?
Will, as I suspect it might, the internet finish all such outlets off ?

Divorce in Middle Age
Divorce for over 40s is going through the roof. 68% of all divorces are instigated by the wife
The primary reason cited is “fancying a change” or “boredom”
Is it any wonder marriage is off the menu for so many men ?

The Pope and Great Britain
He’s criticised us for or equality measures and the fact we think women and homosexuals are not second-rate citizens.
I know he has these views but you’d think his PR team would say “don’t shout about them”
It’s hard to see how he hopes to steer his church towards having a future in a modern world

If I’ve missed anything out or you agree or disagree then please do share your thoughts

To prove I’m not a loser here’s a picture of a bird of prey I took. The bird was high in the sky but the sun was low and setting - note the red glow on the underside of the bird.
It almost looks like it’s on fire

    Rod,
With you on those, don’t get me started on the church. The arrogance that institution showed towards the child abuse cases on both sides of the Atlantic is both incredible and truly sickening. When you think about all of those young, innocent boys raped, indecently assaulted and beaten by so called men of the cloth it’s enough to make you weep.

    Rod,

Re Jessops Camera Shops, as a shareholder of this company I am spitting feathers as it would appear that the major share holder (a well known troubled bank) has discovered a loophole in the law.
Jessops when entering liquidation was still solvent by a long way, unfortunately the bank which owned around 47% of its shares decided it wanted to raise some money and found a couple of mates which were interested in taking on Jessops.
In short it found it could privatise the company and sell what share it didn’t already own to these two companies offering only a token gesture to the other existing share holders (0.097 pence per share).

The good news is Jessops is still going to be present on the high street.

    LB,
absolutely but just in the interests of clarity that would be the Roman Catholic church you speak of.
The current Pope used to be in charge of the Inquisition
That department still exists believe it or not !!
    Cheers

    AWTM,
thanks for the clarification - it’s far to easy to go into liquidation with far too few consequences.
Directors make money and everybody else gets shafted.
I’m pleased they will still have a high steet presence but I still see real difficulties with their business model

    All the best
    Rod
