Another abebooks mess categories
The genuises over at abebooks have introduced yet another outstanding site enhancement
They have decided to automatically allocate books to certain categories, makes sense and helps people with search and browse etc.
The first question that springs to the mind of all but the half-witted is:
How will a computer program know what a book is about?
No problemo for the boffins at abe - use keywords
i.e. Poland in the book title = a travel book - stick it in the travel category
That then results in
Hitler’s March Through Poland by Joe Bloggs
Being listed as a travel book.
Needless to say there are countless other examples.
Fear not though, if you do not like the category abe has assigned to one of your books you can change it.
Very encouraging for those with 1000s of books on stock
I am almost convinced that the management of abebooks are in fact counteragents working for the competition and will not be satisfied until they have wrecked the entire, once great, site!
