All Quiet on the Western Front
It’s christmas eve, 11.40 am and all is well.
La Casa Goldeneye is peaceful and everything that needs to be done is done.
I shall be off shortly to spend the rest of the day with my family which should see a diminution in household expenses such as electricity and food - always welcome.
Amazingly there are still a considerable number of visitors coming to the site, despite the time of year. Down about 40% but still in four figures for yesterday.
Thankfully the blog-spammers seem to have taken xmas off and I am grateful to them for the seasonal respite - no doubt usual service will return in the next few days. Handy, if I ever need a cheap dental plan in California I suppose !
For the first time I can remember nobody has tried to order a book for a last minute present the day before xmas, probably a sign of the times as few people seem to have bought books for presents at all this year.
A few years ago, I used to be inundated with orders for signed first editions, granted I no longer really bother with that market but the tide has definitely turned.
I hope any book dealers who read this have had a good year and wish them well for 2007.
I shall have to sign off now as the time has come to see whether I have made a net loss or gain in the christmas present exchange ![]()
All the best
Rod
