Paypal Scam on ABEbooks

It seems the old ebay Paypal scams are finally starting to arrive at abebooks. With so many booksellers hopelessly outdated
this looks like a fertile hunting ground for the scammer.
The reported cases are not very sophisticated but even these are causing confusion.
The buyer gets irate claiming to have paid etc when he has not.

Just wait until some sellers start getting those perfect emails, complete with graphics and links telling them they have been paid through Paypal.

This is a trend that will probably increase as sellers move to, and promote, Paypal on abebooks with it now being a cheaper alternative to the 5.5% ream from abe.

Points of Note for Booksellers:
If you are new to taking Paypal caution is required, here are a few points.

Ensure that your email address is the correct one and matches your PP account. Somebody may well have sent you money but to the wrong address.

When you get notification of payment, log into your account and check to see it is actually there, do not rely on the email confirmation.
We may expand in greater depth on the whole PP issue in another post
