A Disrupted Day

My day finds itself in disruption. The Goldeneye train has been derailed!
There is only one thing I always do every week
My trip to Horncastle is off. This is less than convenient, no special lunch treat, no socializing, no being spoilt by lovely ladies!

All will be well again next week but for now I lose the day and the marker in the week, I shall no longer know what day it is.

Add to that the following:
The Goldeneye larder is empty, nothing to eat for dinner.
In my world this equates to a stressful day, thankfully I slept the sleep of the righteous last night so I can at least cope, then add the rest.

So put out am I that I decided to try and sell some books! Processed 5 then got bored!

One of the long term girls at the Post Office has left - saw her today on the wrong side of the counter

I cannot think of anything to take pictures of and build another gallery

Mori pollsters keep calling me on my cell phone

Someone wants to know why I will not drive to Devon and value their books

Someone emailed me late last night asking how much the Great Rodini charges for birthday parties! - the second such enquiry

The grass needs cutting and the grounds need tending

Someone’s order £235s worth of books but will not respond to any emails

And it’s only 11.30 am - I hardly dare leave the house never mind travel into town to resupply

For the sake of using the camera I took it with me when going to resupply.
The day was saved somewhat by getting 2 new toothbrushes for the price of one, fiscally rewarding but small consolation

The results can be seen here,

scroll down past yesterdays fotos. If you don’t see the new ones refresh your browser

    Rod,
Re photo gallery…aah the romance of the waterways that is Grimsby’s Riverhead. Why did I ever leave?

    Shane,
We need to speak to this WoE, if his Horncastle trip is cancelled again he might try getting up Canwick Hill-unleash the hounds!

Rod, have just met up with our dear acquaintances and after greeting them warmly, suggested that in future their travel plans should begin with Wednesday and they should be home no later than Monday night ……… how could they leave us like this. We must be firm with them next time so it doesn’t happen again.

Ah well, it’s pumpkin lantern cutting night so must get on with it. This year thought we might recreate the Collins profile which, when lit, should be suitably alarming and deter any trick or treaters …..

Don’t suppose the Great Rodini will be available for last minute bookings close to Christmas? If our guests get restless I’d like some sort of backup plan and so far no luck, well not for under a fiver anyway! WoE

    Why did I ever leave?
Because you get at least twice as much money as you would here!

pleased to hear the our friends have returned safely and echo much of what you say, in re their trips abroad.

My head would make a good lantern, cut the top off, nothing to scoop out so pretty easy - could mentally scar you children though.

At least when the candle was light there would be something bright in my head for once.

Sadly Lincolnshire’s Greatest Magician (sorry could resist spamming for the term) The Great Rodini has retired from public performances

    WoE,
the refresh button at the top of the browser you are using now reloads the latest version of the page.
If you looked at the page this morning for example then the cached version stored on your computer may be shown, hence no new pics.

If you can see a double cheeseburger you have the latest ones.
PS. No need to refresh pages on this actual blog as they are database driven and you’ll always see the latest version automatically
    Regards

….. we knew that. Kindly stop blinding us with science …. Witches, being multi-taskers know all about computer thingies, it’s just that intricate pumpkin carving is so much easier and naturally we can do both at the same time! Do pumpkin seeds wedged into keyboards matter? WoE

By this time in the evening we feel we can have the complete run of this site folks, because Mr Collins and all his friends are soundly asleep, leaving us to waffle on about anything we want to……… a bit like Louby Lou when Andy and Teddy are out of the picture!

By 9.30 tonight we had made the finishing touches to this year’s carved pumpkin and what a fabulous thing it has turned out to be, the best we’ve ever done. This year, a spooky woodland scene with a frightened cat, next year possibly the Mona Lisa, who knows. Quite possibly worthy of the V&A and certain to win first prize at the WI. Anyway, if it were not for evil gossip, we would feel duty bound to show Rod our latest creation in all it’s glory, in the darkest cellar belonging to a mutual friend of ours. Although he says he’s now desensitized, we feel sure it would bring a tear to his eye, artisan that he undoubtedly is. Next year the Witches will have to do two extra pumpkins for the Collins boys, we don’t want them falling out do we viewers …..

    Say goodnight Louby …… goodnight!

    WoE,
Not all of Mr. Collins’ friends are asleep, you forget (at your peril) the night owl that is a chef! I have just retired for the evening with a glass of good red after successfully avoiding small people begging for money. Any monies I may have had for charitable purposes has been swallowed up by the Bayerische Motor Werkschaft company of Germany-God bless their diagnostic tests.
Perhaps you could weave a spell preventing any more sensor failures on my car?
    Yours eternally gratefull

    Went to bed at 2am!

You should take a picture of the pumpkin. In fact, you could email me one over and I’ll put it in the gallery
There were witches all over last night around here you’ll be pleased to hear..

One in particular looked superb, even had special fingernails with spiders on, I don’t remember doing any of this when I was 13!

after successfully avoiding small people begging for money
Bloody miser ! Don’t hoard it all to yourself, spread it around a little!

    Little Brother

All the spells in the world could not fix my poor car. More surprisingly though some direct talking from yours truly to the Managing Director was remarkably successful (they think I’m a scary person, can you believe it!) and in the end they had to give me a new one. Tell them that WoE says it’ll be the cable loom, it always is in my experience and that you’d like new everything if they can’t find the problem immediately. If this doesn’t work, tell them the chief witch is on her way over and has detailed knowledge of the workings of the combustible fire engine, so no messing with her ……there’s normally a fight, someone gets hurt and eventually we walk out with a new car …… simple really.

If you need any further advice about cars in general, do not hesitate to contact us and if it can’t be fixed with a twig, the witches will use their persuasive powers to sort things out. WoE
