7 Inch High Heels ~ How High is Too High

When it comes to high heels and stilettos - higher is better !
I can say that because being a man I don’t have to wear them - only admire them.
But, how high should you go ?

Gwyneth Paltrow, a woman who does blow a bit hot and cold in the style stakes, certainly cut a dash in these 7 inch killer spikes and looks every bit the glamorous Hollywood celebrity.

Giuseppe Zanotti killer heels

I can’t imagine they’re much use beyond getting you from a limo, down a red carpet and to a chair but they certainly look stunning.
Whilst not an avid surveyor of women’s shoes, well not since the police spoke to me about it :) , I don’t think I’ve ever seen stilettos quite this high ‘in real life’ - do they exist on the high street and does anybody actually wear them in the real world ?

Women have long suffered in the footwear stakes in the interest of glamour and who am I to complain. Shoes regularly top the most popular and sought after items women buy or covet in most of the fashion and style surveys - and rightly so.

Style and elegance starts at the feet and works its way up - certainly men could take a leaf out of the ladies books here and pay a little more attention to what they put on their feet.

These stunning Giuseppe Zanotti designer shoes come in at £450 so perhaps not everybody will be looking to buy them :)
No doubt there are cheaper alternatives on the high street or available to buy online - but 7″ ?

Are these a rarity and would you wear them ?
How good does she look in them ?

    Rod,

We think these shoes are too bulky around the toe so no we don’t like them. We have been very close to buying Zanotti shoes before but for the record we think there is a critical angle where the shoe and leg look most attractive, and these are too high. To pull it off a woman must have the poise of a ballerina… even the lovely Gwyneth looks a bit awkward.

    Rod,
Just watched the lovely GP trying to walk in them on Sky News (the BAFTA award winning news channel of the year :) ) and she can’t. Great legs though!

thanks for the input and on-topic perspective, much appreciated and a good point.
Even standing still looks a little awkard as you say, walking would presumably be even more ‘tottery’

You can’t beat a good pair of killer spikes. Makes the legs look longer and more shapely. Bring it on i say! :-)

    Jordan,
Absolutely, I’m a fan as I mentioned but then I don’t have to wear them.
Being a fan of the killer spikes how high do you go ? 4 inch - 5 inch ?

I don’t really care how high they are, the higher the better.
I find heels easier to wear than flats or kitten heels.
The better quality the better they are!

quality is the keyword there ! Not quantity which seems to be the downfall of many women in the footwear scheme of things

Absolute nonsense about quantity being a mistake! I have a tendency to go for both quality and quantity (in all aspects of life!) and, yes, all my shoes, barring a pair of slippers and trainers (stilettos just don’t ‘cut it’ in the gym), are fairly high heeled though I have to say the 6″ heels on my boots are probably the limit.

I have to agree that flats and kitten heels are definitely difficult to wear and quite uncomfortable. Who invented the kitten heel anyway? They are the most uncomfortable, awkward creation ever.

    Rod,

We wear steel toe capped boots to cope with Coven life…. nevertheless there is no excuse for not looking girlie at all times…. we’ll get in touch with our suppliers and have some heels welded on :)

p.s. in case we ever go for space ship travel, we’ll have the boots magnetized as well… could be handy on the bus too :)

    Rod,

If the situation fits, then high heels should be worn, they are feminine, sexy and look good. Personally, I feel more confident in high heels, but, as to whether I could walk in 7″ heels, well thats probably another story ;)

pleased to hear you are also a fan of high heels. I’ve heard women say before they feel ‘different’ when they wear such shoes - much as you say.
Interesting to hear as I’m not sure there’s anything similar in the male line.

As to actually walking in the Giuseppe Zanotti’s , well according to LB even the lovely Gwyneth couldn’t do it very well !

    EEEK!
I think 7 inch heels are an accident waiting to happen. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a heel addict myself (nothing under 3 inches for me, and I’ve had the bruises on my insteps to prove it!), but 7 inches would be incredibly painful, not to mention awkward.

Just a quick note - i love high heels - looking at them and wearing them. i tend to like 5″ for anytype of long walking, but have worn my 6″ heels on occasion for a “walk in the park (mall)”. It is a little trickier walking in the 6″ heels. i am not sure how i would do in 7″ or ballet heels.

thakns for taking the time to comment - much appreciated and welcome to the site.
If you can manage 6 inches then I’m sure you could manage 7 inches :)

They look pretty deadly to me though !

Hmmm, I think the angle of these particular shoes are a little too steep. Personally, I don’t like the look of any stiletto more than 5 (sometimes 6) inches. However, that doesn’t mean super high heals are a no go for me, I just prefer the platform style; you can get that supper high, extra long leg look, with a moderate angle.

Like most things your body can be trained to adapt. When I was dancing the heels I started with where 4 inches and then worked up to 5 inch heels. Years later I spend all day in 4-5 inch heels easily can do most things in 6 inch heels. I have even worked on ballet boots.

Isn’t Gweneth Paltrow like 5 ft 9? So in these heels she’s like 6 ft 4? That’s crazy!!!

For me 7″ is already too high! I can’t imagine myself wearing those and i ask my self, can i still walk with it? huh! I think they are just collector’s item and not applicable to most unless one is a model or a celebrity. I don’t know but that’s what i feel. I think even 3 or 4 ” is already high and enough to give me strains…oh maybe i am just not used to it. Anyway, they surely looks nice and gives a sexier look on the legs specially if the one wearing it do have the nice legs and can walk comfortably with it. I think they don’t wear it for a long time, just few minutes, i don’t think one can stand long hours with a shoes as high as that.

    Rod and the ladies,

Why don’t those who want that look have cosmetic surgery to lock the ankles rigid in that position?
Alternatively, they could wear a fashion variation of blocked ballet shoes. ;)

You may wonder what an old geezer like me knows about shoe styles but let me inform you that I did celebrate Chinese New Year 2006 at The Phoenix Palace Restaurant in Marylebone with many celebrated guests including Jimmy Choo no less. Something must surely have rubbed off on me :)

    Rod,

“You’re clearly mixing in elevated circles” I certainly was that night; it was a twelve course meal and lasted for three hours! I have a rather influential friend, (apart from you Rod), who took a small exclusive group of us there for the event, all expences paid :) There was a charity auction of a pair of Jimmy Choo’s shoes during the evening - the bidding started at £1000! Needless to say, I refrained from joining in, especially as high heels don’t suite my calves

Quite a heavyweight guest list. Foreign Ambassadors, Attorney General, Mayor of London, Leader of the House of Lords - just to mention a few politicians.
“I once stood on David Bellamy’s foot” And to think you never put a foot wrong……I can beat that with something more pleasureable - on the above occassion, I had to squeeze past Floella Benjamin’s bum to go to the loo!

    Your most ‘umble servant,
    Neville

Sounds like a good do !
I was in a restaurant once (The Ivy  ) with Lucien Freud I think, well not with more at the same time !
