I haven’t done it for 25 years !
I now have the chance to do something that’s not been possible for a quarter of a century
It’s not thanks to some advance in medical science nor does it involve little blue pills
Now that I can do it though . . . I’m not sure I want to . . .

Life in North Cotes Lincolnshire Between the Wars
Regular readers of the site will know I’m very, very interested in the personal side of history, everyday life as it were.
It’s not only because it is fascinating in of itself but more importantly it tends not to get recorded and once lost it’s lost forever.
A very popular article that countless 1,000s have read is the one on the Bunkers at Stallingborough - now, it’s a matter of record what the site was and the size of the guns on it etc but what wasn’t recorded anywhere was Len Copsey’s accounts of everyday life and trying to start diesel generators on a winter’s morning - gold dust in my eyes.
To that effect here is an account put together by Neville based on life at North Cotes as experienced by his father, it’s great stuff and I hope you’ll all give it a read.
My thanks to Neville for putting this together - it’s fantastic to get on record - now over to Neville . . .

Will There Ever Be Enough Jobs for Young People ?
It was announced today that here in the UK there are now 1 million unemployed young people.
The news is described as shocking - I’d say it was bad news but is it shocking ?
I’d say it was, sadly, all too predictable not a shock at all . . .

Why Are So Many Films Today Remakes ?
I wonder why so many film makers and film studios today feel the need to plunder the past rather than try and create something new and unique ?
I couple of things have put this in my mind . . .

An old map of the River Humber and Grimsby area
We’re off on another ‘Magical History Tour’
A rather fine and rare map showing the River Humber in the 1500s has some interesting details marked
The question is what are they and where are they - at worst this old map is very interesting indeed at best it could be …
Epic !
