Why Do People Think Ricky Gervais is Funny ?
There are many mysteries in life, much to perplex a ‘lover of logic’ such as myself, just one of those things is how on earth the ’star’ of The Office Ricky Gervais managed to convince people he’s a comedian - he’s having a laugh even if we aren’t
Much more of this and other things - it’s Hot or Not again . . .

How to Identify Mysterious Pieces of Stone
I’ve decided to create a little corner to put strange or intriguing pieces of stone I find into.
Hopefully they’ll build over time and with sufficient input, opinions and ideas it could turn into a useful guide for those, like myself, who pick up a piece of unusual looking stone and wonder what it is or what it may have been once used for
Here’s some examples to kick it off . . .

A Medieval Document Connected to Lincolnshire and Newsham Abbey
Here’s something a little bit special, special for several reasons. Take a beautiful medieval document, nearly 800 years old, written in inexorable Latin which is connected to Newsham Abbey !
That should be enough - to look upon such a thing but then what if the unintelligible were to be translated . . .
Enter Neville !!!!!
I would urge everybody to give this a read as it’s quite fantastic, a tremendous piece of work by Neville so I hope you’ll all give it a thorough read, it’s well worth it even if you’re not one for the history articles.
It should be noted that I can take no credit for this whatsoever, the credit for what follows belongs entirely to Neville Sisson.
That’s enough from me - I now hand you over . . .

A Guide on How to Identify a Seagull
I imagine you read the strap line above and think; even by his standards this is a waste of time !

George Foreman’s Lean, Mean, Grilling Machines Suck !
Bought one in Sainsbury’s, my brother’s advice so clearly an attempt by him to assassinate me and collect an early legacy, plugged it in, smoke bellowed out the back then a big flash and a hell of a bang - not seen anything like since I worked in engineering.

Ernest Hemingway’s Book A Farewell to Arms
I’ve always said it feels different to read a first edition book, the text etc is the same of course but somehow it’s better - the reading experience is enhanced.
Sadly, in this case not even that could save this ‘classic novel’
Perhaps I’m missing something . . .
Hope regular readers will give it a read

Modelling in Lincolnshire
Finding models n the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area is not the easiest thing in the world, given that I love doing studio photography so much it can be frustrating.
However, if you can’t beat them join them - today I’ve mostly been modelling
Now, regulars will be only too aware of my Outrageously Awesome Hat but a new season means a new hat and the lack of models means that today I had to abandon the camera and get on the other side of the lens !

Finding Roman Sites in Lincolnshire
What follows shortly is a guest article written by friend and supporter of the site Chris Keyworth.
It’s both very interesting and also very exciting as it charts the locating of previously unknown sites of Roman antiquity in Lincolnshire.
My thanks go to Chris Keyworth for sending this in and to Rick Spauls for the superb metal detecting finds and photographs that accompany this article, a staggering Medieval Pendant and a Roman coin which is 1,866 years old ! All found in Lincolnshire of course.
Without further ado I hand you over to Chris . . .
