What exactly is the mentality behind just throwing your detritus wherever you happen to be ?
What kind of half-witted dead-beat moron sees a lovely river with swallows swooping at hatching larvae, ducks swimming, birds in the reeds and water voles in the bank covered by overhanging trees and thinks . . .
“I know what this scene needs . . . a beer can !”

A day trip to Tealby saw me once again on the track of ruins - this time Bayons Manor. So often there is nothing left standing but in this case . . .
It felt like a mini adventure actually getting to the place and I’ve only recently recovered from the nettle stings and scratches but it was well worth it - well I think so - judge for yourself

It’s about time we cast an eye over the winners and losers, the things on the up and those on the way down
What’s hot and what’s not
Guess what’s hot this week . . . me - believe it or not
Do read on - it’s not about F1

Irby Upon Humber ~ Earthworks and Archaeology.
Today I went on quite a ramble which took in the church, village, footpaths, bridle paths and Irby Dales Wood.
As well as recording the church I also sought out the earthworks listed on the OS map - another cracking day out !

St Mary le Wigford Church in Lincoln is situated just by the railway crossing following on the main shopping route in the city centre.
I’ve featured this because of the very early Saxon connection and something which brought life into sharp focus !

The Red Squirrel is native to Britain but is now sadly under great threat from that pesky American invader The Grey Squirrel.
I’ve never been keen on the Grey Squirrel as it is vermin and destroys trees as well driving out the Red Squirrel which is not classed as vermin incidentally.
That said, I still took take a picture of one - my first successful wildlife shot with the new camera gear in fact

Unless you’ve just tuned in today you’ll all be perfectly, or is it painfully, aware that I live in Avalon Lincolnshire.
The idea of leaving The Emerald County is extremely unpleasant and generally best avoided in all but the most dire of emergencies.
You’ll no doubt recall some of my words on the subject in the past (hopefully memorized and oft quoted by you dear reader)
It’s well known travel narrows the mind
Travel often liberates emotions best kept in check well, here’s another for you based on today’s escapade
Nothing good ever comes of anything undertaken outside the confines of Lincolnshire

Your host’s duties are many and varied but I still manage to keep one eye on the literary scene and despite my current hectic day trip schedule I thankfully didn’t miss the launch of the new literary opus by Katie Price aka Jordan
I’ve had to fit looking at her promo pics into my heavy and extremely dangerous schedule - why yesterday I risked life and limb for you dear reader !

Picture the scene, I’m walking in the small market town of Louth, (trip coming to a blog near you soon) keeping a low profile and trying to avoid being arrested again for Being Awesome in a Built Up Area
when who do I bump into . . . ?
Jimmy Brewer, the second best guitarist in Lincolnshire

This post is slightly different for two reasons. Firstly it is my local church and secondly it it is my first trip with my new camera and lenses. Yes folks, your host’s modest hoard of Shekels has taken a battering and I hope you appreciate the difference
So here are the results and a brief historical guide to St. Nicolas Church in Great Coates Lincolnshire.
It should be noted, contrary to my book on the history of churches and most internet sources, there is no H in the name, we’ve used both for internet search purposes

I’ve undertaken something of a mammoth task and hopefully it’s one I’ll not live to regret.
I have been compiling a list of all the churches and religious buildings in the County of Lincolnshire
Just take a look and see what kind of a job it is

One of my well-placed spies has just informed me that the dreaded Swine Flu is now abroad on Le Spa de Wybers
There have, I’m told, been two confirmed cases at Wybers-Wood Primary School in Grimsby

Want to buy a cheap house in Lincolnshire ?
Well you’ve come to the right place - I think mine’s going on the market - cheap for a quick sale
So if you fancy living in Great Coates (nr Grimsby
) and don’t have much money then . . .
Drop me a line quick - I need to leave Lincolnshire
I know those are words as shocking as a woman saying no to chocolate and doubtless you thought never to hear them but I’ve found my dream home

So much did I enjoy my trip to Lincoln on Monday I began searching through leaflets and books for an excuse to return.
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life veritably beckoned ‘come hither’ - not only was it well worth the visit but also a place to get you thinking about things other than Lincolnshire Museums.
