Celebrity Culture

We seem to live in a world obsessed with celebrity. Children as young as 5 express a desire to become ‘a celebrity’
This is obviously nothing new, there were no greater celebrities than the original stars of Hollywood.
What I wonder is: What now defines a celebrity ?
